Terms of service
Terms of sale: Eden Butchery
These terms apply to every order you place with Eden Butchery. You can browse our products and prices on this website, but there's no online checkout: orders are placed and confirmed on WhatsApp.
1. Who we are
- Trading name: Eden Butchery
- Legal name: Eden Butchery and Biltong (Pty) Ltd
- Company registration number: 2026/695435/07
- VAT: Eden Butchery and Biltong (Pty) Ltd isn't VAT registered.
- Physical address and address for legal notices: Forest Gate Eco Estate, 434 Holt Hill, Bitou Rural, Plettenberg Bay, 6600, South Africa
- WhatsApp: 082 441 0596 · Email: info@edenbutchery.co.za · Website: https://edenbutchery.co.za
2. Products and prices
- All prices are in South African rand (ZAR). Prices don't include VAT because we aren't VAT registered, so no VAT is added.
- Many items are priced per kilogram and cut to order, so the final price depends on the actual weight. We'll confirm the weight and price on WhatsApp before you pay.
- Photos are a guide. Natural products vary in size, marbling and colour.
- Prices can change, but we'll honour the price confirmed with you when you placed your order. If we make an obvious pricing mistake, we'll tell you before taking payment and you can cancel.
3. Ordering and payment
- To order, WhatsApp us on 082 441 0596. Your order is accepted once we've confirmed it with you on WhatsApp.
- When we confirm your order, we'll tell you the final price, how you can pay and when payment is due.
4. Delivery and collection
See our Delivery policy. You can collect from the shop during shop hours. We deliver fresh meat only in Plettenberg Bay, Keurbooms, Harkerville, Knysna and Nature's Valley, and post shelf-stable biltong and droëwors anywhere in South Africa. Risk in fresh meat passes to you when it's handed over.
5. Cancellations, returns and refunds
See our Refund policy. The 7-day cooling-off right in section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act doesn't apply to fresh food delivered for everyday use, to perishable goods, or to items cut to your specification (section 42(2) of that Act). Your rights under the Consumer Protection Act are not affected.
6. Food safety and allergens
Our boerewors, sausages, marinades and dried products are made with seasonings and other ingredients that may include allergens. If you have an allergy or a dietary requirement, please ask us before you order. Keep fresh meat in the fridge or freezer, cook it thoroughly, and follow any storage advice we give you.
7. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for loss caused by things outside our control (for example, courier delays, load-shedding at your home after handover, or incorrect storage after delivery). Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited under the Consumer Protection Act.
8. Your personal information
We use your details only to take, deliver and support your order and, if you opt in, to send our newsletter. See our Privacy policy (POPIA).
9. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by South African law. Please contact us first on WhatsApp (082 441 0596) or at info@edenbutchery.co.za so we can try to sort things out. You may also approach the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (www.cgso.org.za).
